Another week over, not too much else than more finished work for Vsevolod which will not be shown here, as usual.

I’ve been on a half-day photo tour on one day this week though, with results of course. Not that easy to catch a day without rain these times.

After I had studied some celtic patterns for the logo of Vsevolod, I developed a tileset to create large patterns more easily and faster. But I actually didn’t use it for the background of the logo because I chose a different pattern.

The actual logo can’t be seen yet, I couldn’t decide on colors and borders.

I continued coloring the backdrops for the game, created artworks for a soon to be released flash game and made this small photomanipulation.

A long-anticipated event took place yesterday: The 3rd DevMeet in Stuttgart, I have made some footage.

While I’m focusing my work on Vsevolod and coloring the backdrops, there has also once again emerged some stuff to be presented here.

I revised the old logo for our team at Svarun Studios which was still showing the old name.

Now I’m making a logo for the game Vsevolod itself too. Therefore I tried different letter designs, for example this one, which won’t be used though.

The logo which is currently in progress will have some celtic woven patterns in the background, so I firstly had to learn how to draw those.

Yesterday I took the day off for some different work, diversion that is. I painted an artwork for a contest over at deviantART.

Loads of free time equals loads of new works

Loads of new works. Now that I got free time between my social gap year and studies, I delved deep enough into projects for not even getting down to posting a new blog entry. I am primarily working on the Prologue of Vsevolod and I also did a few small works by the way. But let’s start with first things first.

Two weeks ago, I went on a trip at the forest and I took my camera with me. The outcome of this are three small works, firstly an experimental filmlet. I was amazed by the calmless in the forest on the one hand and the hustle of the bees on the other hand.

I took the flowers with the bees as an opportunity to practice some semi-macro photos, as I didn’t have much to do with flowers before. So I got the idea for this photo manipulation when I was at home again and thought about the hustle.

I found an alienated hut in the middle of the forest which made a great motif for an infrared picture.

Did you hear that this week is the “Shark Week”? I don’t want to know which genious came up with that, but you certainly have heard of it, as virtually everybody seems to be going crazy about it. I wanted to know what that’s all about and on my Google research, I stumbled across the website of a TV channel, announcing the “Happy Shark Week”. Now that was too much, the stupid commerce makes me mad.

Now the most important part of today’s blog entry: As I’m currently pretty much focusing on the work on Vsevolod, there is finally something to show again. I recorded the making of one of the backdrops that I am coloring for the game and compiled it as a Speedpainting. As Youtube is having major problems with their HD video uploads currently, I went to Vimeo after having been wasting two days struggling with the video uploader of Youtube. Vimeo has more style anyway! Now enjoy the video, there will be more information about the game on an own website soon.

Scorching forms and social welcome

The past four weeks have not exactly been the most focused and productive ones. Reason? Heat. And work – the finish of my social gap year. Oh and dozens of forms and correspondence for my upcoming studies.

But blabla. You just want to see some results, don’t you. The coloration of the new scenes for the game Chaos is still keeping me busy and will for some more weeks.

I updated the content of this website a little too. I now have a fancy welcome page too whose concept a friend of mine scripted for me.

I did a short dubbing job for a group called Vocallounge and also created another quick artwork by the way.

Welcome on WordPress 3.0! My blog is running on it now. What’s new? I don’t really know yet.

However, I have started coloring the 7 new scenes for the Chaos game more than a week ago and the first of those scenes is looking nice already. That work will keep me busy for the next weeks. But casually, I got time to realize a few little concepts too. Nothing too sophisticated, just rough ideas.

While I’ve been putting into operation my new computer, I also made three concepts for a poster contest organized by the WWF (basically four, but Photoshop crashed and I lost my work on it). I can only show two of them now because the one (the best one) I submitted may not be published elsewhere until the contest winners are chosen.

The work on the film “Massrashegos” kept me busy since the last blog entry. I worked hard and I have finished a third of the storyboard now (I didn’t expect a film-maker’s job to be that slow). So I was able to attach this first fragment to the last of my university applications. Now that this application is out, nothing is rushing me with the development of the film anymore. That’s why I decided to pause with the film and color some new scenes for the game Chaos first because my mates from Svarun Studios are waiting for it. There are 7 new scenes that beg for my brush strokes, I guess I will present one of them here when finished which might take a few weeks. Mind the twitter box in the meantime.

Below, you can watch another view seconds of preview and also a rather laughable outtake which originated from when I’ve been filming for the film project and a smartass passerby spoke to me.

Continued working on the film

Since I have completed all pictures for my portfolio Massrashegos, I continued working on the correspondent short film. At first I spent a couple of days on delving into my old concepts and now I’m making steady progress on the film. I studied the features of Flash for a few days and now I really enjoy the animation work. Studied Flash? Right, but without the chapter about ActionScript. Dealing with that will be the next step after having finished the animation film.

The development of the short film will take some weeks still, I guess, and I’m not sure if I’m posting another blog entry before its completion. But you can already check out a tiny bit of preview that I had released after the first one or two days of work. You don’t see much on it yet though.

My portfolio is complete

I have finally finished the 20th and last artwork for my portfolio Massrashegos. Its title is “Rosig” and it’s a marker illustration.

I have used water-based felt-tip pens so I was able to use a watercolor technique. The piece actually consists of two sheets adhered on top of each other. That way I was able to border the two different color fields better, the billboard and the apocalyptic scenery.

20 of 20 artworks are finished, that means the portfolio is done! The first artwork had in fact been produced in June 2009 already and the completion of the remaining 19 concepts kept me busy until May 2010. Although I am still going to produce the short film “Massrashegos” soon, I can now finally again take care of my personal projects. I am very looking forward to continuing the development of my games again.
